Kaladin, an original book soundtrack inspired by Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings has been released! This was a massive effort – I had the opportunity to lead a team of 11 composers, 11 orchestrators and full music prep crew.
We recorded 70-piece full orchestra in Prague, 32-piece strings in Budapest, 24-voice choirs in L.A. and Salt Lake. One song even features a virtual choir.
The soundtrack completed on Kickstarter at just over $112K, raising an additional $30K on BackrKit, and has been highly well-received! It just released on iTunes and Amazon MP3 as well as CD Baby!
It made #10 on CD Baby’s Top Best-seller list, top 50 on Google Play, and was the featured album in the CD Baby newsletter this month!
I just got word that a beautiful film I had the pleasure of scoring, Movie: Just Go, is one of 9 selected shorts from the Newport Beach Film Festival that will be specially screened for 100 middle school students from Willard Intermediate School in Santa Ana.
These students are participating in a program called Turnaround Arts, which is an organization that uses the arts to create success in schools. The Willard Intermediate School is an inner city school in a part of the city that faces many challenges.
I will get to be a part of the Q&A for the event. I can’t express just how excited I am to be a part of this film and grateful to be a part of something that seeks to make a real impact in these kids’ lives.
I’ve been nominated for Best Original Score for indie web series Afterlife! I’m very excited for the award ceremony at the beginning of April, and I wish the best of luck to all the nominees! Recognition for their hard work is well deserved!
I’m excited to be composing for an upcoming soundtrack inspired by international best-selling author, Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings epic fantasy novel. The recording session will take place in London at the famous Abbey Road Studios during the summer of 2017.
